A New Vision

Founder and Distiller, Zach Hetrick grew up in Nelson on Village Edge Farms right on the edge of town. He is the sixth generation of many wonderful farmers before him. With many small family farms being sold off, Zach realized how important the farm and family legacy is. This idea was a way to keep Village Edge Farms sustainable while keeping the legacy alive. His father and Uncle have run the farm since Zach’s grandfather retired over 30 years ago. Village Edge Farms had been an organic dairy farm since the early nineties but in 2014, they made the hard decision to sell the cattle and start organic crop farming.

About a year before the cattle had sold, the idea struck that Zach could use those crops for spirits and he began to bounce the idea around family and friends. It was important to Zach and his wife Sam to start raising a family before taking the leap into entrepreneurship. After some time and two wonderful daughters later, they broke ground on their farm distillery in 2021. About 9 months later, Zach started distilling and they opened their doors to their distillery & tasting room on December 2nd, 2022.
